International Unrest in Oil

I just read an article on our countries unbalenced Oil intake. Today, September 27th oil prices breached 50 dollars a barrel. With an accompanied graph The article explains and shows how any unrest in international economies affects our oil prices. This in return causes our gas prices to increase with little hope of price drop.
I feel that this is a current important issue because of where our counrty sits in the current oil market. We cannot supply our own comsumption in oil by any means and this makes us insecure in my mind. If we cannot balence our countries intake I feel that we are doomed to face these problems as long as we depend on importing the vast majority of our counrties oil.

Of course we have a problem and I completely agree with what you stated. The nation relies on oil far too much. It's near impossible to slow this process down however. Our emisssions from automobiles is what really kills us. Think about it, everyone wants the bigger car, the more powerful engine, the most reliable vehicle. The popular SUVs guzzle the most gasoline. I don't think we will ever really slow down the process until the oil is completely gone and we have to rely on alternate sources. They are out there right now, but who wants to use a "sissy" less powerful engine when we can be confident in our V8 350 hp engine. Some people have made the step to help save emissions and try to keep them low, but the nation will never completely take it on a full effect. We will eventually lose our world's supply of oil and resort to those more less efficient sources for fuel, but it's just a matter of time at this point. Its sad to say, but it's the truth.
