Well may I say...Kerry is quite a master of rhetoric. He was very composed and very prepared. Every response started with an introduction, a developing body, and a conclusion. Bush on the other hand stumbled around and around the same subject with every response (and leaned on the podium I might add). I believe I heard him mistake Osama Bin Laden with Saddam Hussein as well...Is that the man that we really want to run the country for the next four years? He had absolutely no reasoning behind anything he had to say and all he could argue was that Kerry had no permanent stand on anything. Well according to that debate...it seemed that Kerry at least had a stand.

Well, if anyone has read any of my last posts, I am a conservative, but after watching the presidential debate, I felt quite embarassed. I have to agree that Kerry did a great job with his debate and, though Bush had some good things to say, he had a very difficult time in voicing his oppinion. In other words, I feel that Bush made a complete fool of himself and his fellow republicans, and now I am seriously reconsidering who I am going to vote for.
Posted by: Jessica Cincoski at October 4, 2004 09:23 AMYes we all know that bush had a hard time with the debate. But it has already been noted that Bush is not a very well public speaker. Does this make bush a bad president. NO!!!! Come on people, the man has made some of the hardest decisions this country has ever faced, i believed he made those decisions with confidence and courage. So just becasue when he gets up in front of people he studders and has trouble projecting this point, does not make him a bad president we need to focus more on view and ethics then public speaking!!!!!
Posted by: Josh Tyra at October 4, 2004 10:54 PMI would have to agree that Kerry spoke very well during the Presidential debate, but I would also like to add that he has basically made of living out it (I mean come on, his wife is Teresa Heinz for crying out loud...he gets a lot of practice). Although he spoke well this does not mean that he would make a great president, it simply means just that he spoke well on that particular evening. I guess we'll just have to wait an see what the next debate brings...to be continued
Posted by: Riddle at October 5, 2004 12:55 AMIt just seems that every liberal thinks Bush is the dumbest person alive, and every conservative thinks he just had a bad night with the debate. As much as I'm hoping for Kerry to win, and keep Bush out of office, the probability of Bush winning becomes greater and greater each day. The problem with people today is that they will vote for who everyone else dislikes. I'm against Bush in many ways, but you have to find the things that benefit you, not just what hurts you. Every president will have something that you don't agree with. Just consider what is best for yourself, and not how one talks.
Posted by: Michael Kingrey at October 5, 2004 01:30 PMI agree that Kerry dominated the debate. One could clearly tell that he has had a lot of experience with debating. He was very composed, organized, and he knew the correct debate etiquette (i.e. not interrupting the opponent during their time). I mean Bush just would not let go of Kerry’s changing views. He kept referring to how Kerry voted for one thing and then changed his mind. Let it go! Move on with the debate! As a result, he made Bush look like an amateur. However, I don’t believe that the debate is an effective indicator of a strong president. Just because Bush can’t express his thoughts clearly doesn’t mean he is necessarily a bad president.

I agree immensely with what Danny said about Bush making himself look like an amateur; it's funny how often he does that :)

Posted by: Mike Ayers at October 5, 2004 08:13 PMAfter viewing the debate last night I would have to agree that Kerry is indeed a master of rhetoric. His eloqunce with words and his strong and delivering tone of voice just send his words to the masses like the aroma from fresh baked cookies. Mr. Bush on the other hand is an ok speaker himself but often looses the audience by having to stop and think about what he has to say, having to correct a wrong word, or using some silly random anecdote that really has nothing to do with the issue at hand. I have a feeling that this presidential election is going to be one of the closest in history with some of the swing states really on the fence about who would make a better leader for America. I don't know about you guys but I think the guy who wins the argument should win the election as well ;-)
