I just rented Farenhype 9/11 the other day, which is a movie that discredits a lot of Michael Moore's points he made in his film, Farenheit 9/11. Yes, although it too is sending large amounts of prophaganda, it was really interesting to see the full context of the speeches Moore used in his film. It really shows how he manipulated what people said in a pretty sleezy manner. Although its not enough to make me vote for Bush, its still nice to see that crazy liberal discredited that much moore. But I just wanted to know what other people thought of this film!
Posted by goss0060 at October 18, 2004 03:09 PM | TrackBackI know you are talking about FarenHYPE but I would like to comment on its counter part, Farenheit. Last Thursday, the 14th I believe it was, I attended the showing of Farenheit 9/11 at Coffman and the words I would use to describe this film would be rubbish, ridiculous, and outlandish. Although Michael Moore did not put the words into the mouths of his characters (yes I would call them characters because they truly played a part) it was interesting to see the words 'written by Michael Moore' flash over the screen. The fact of the matter is Michael Moore is a dam good story teller and editor. He can take bits and piece of film that has been accumulated over several months and use that to make accusations. Along with puzzling together information I noticed him filling in the blanks for the Bush when he was silent, i.e., when the President was told a plane had just struck the twin towers, at this point Moore proceeds to take over for the mute Bush. The things he suggests are ludicrous and disrespectful...when he has no idea what GW is actually thinking. All I'm saying is Michael Moore, I felt, made himself look bad by producing this film. Furthermore, blatantly making attacks at the prez in no way to get across your point to a republican, maybe next time he should consider his audience!
Posted by: Katie at October 20, 2004 11:54 PMI think that it’s always good showing both sides of the coin. I did think that Fahrenheit 911 was really skewed. It is good to see a balance with FahrenHYPE 911. This way both side are presented, even though both movies may be considered skewed.
Posted by: Danny Liu at December 13, 2004 04:49 PMWhat Michael Moore did should be considered slander, but because he presented his lies in a movie in the form of a documentary, it is considered as JUST a movie and does not violate any laws. What people fail to realize is that just because a movie is a documentary, all the material presented does NOT have to be true. Any movie that is a documentary can be fictitious. A documentary means just based on a true story. Fahrenheit 9/11 was indeed based on a true story because it presents George W Bush as president. That itself, and having a sequential set of true events, such as the election of 2000 in which Bush won and September 11, that makes the movie a documentary. Michael Moore, however, manipulates the films and talks over the film. This was just a way to ridicule not only Republicans, but also the President of the United States. Everyone who reads this should also go to the website http://www.davekopel.com/Terror/Fiftysix-Deceits-in-Fahrenheit-911.htm. This website discusses 59 deceits that Fahrenheit 9/11 portrayed. President Bush is out President, and We, as people of the United States and as a nation, voted for him. WE voted for him. WE should support his decisions, as ridiculous as they may seem because he knows a lot more that WE do. He knows things that WE don’t know. And it’s that way for a reason. It says in the BIBLE “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore he who resists authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad” – Romans 13:1-3. This says that we should support out rulers because he was elected for a reason, a reason that we may not be able to comprehend at times. It is our Faith to believe what is written in the BIBLE, and we would not be considered faithful if we didn’t believe. In all, Michael Moore’s film is just a fabrication of lies and slander made to instill weakness in the people of the United States of America. This movie shows ignorance at its best and is encouraging the downfall of the United States.
