Super Size Me

Last weekend, my friends and I rented the movie "Super Size Me!" It is about a man who is in peak physical health who decides to eat nothing but McDonald's for 30 days. He must eat three meals a day and if they ask him if he wants to supersize it, he must say yes. Well, the film was both entertaining and educational. It included many statistics about america's obesity problem, as well as how McDonald's makes some of it's food (which I found to be quite disturbing). The results are really shocking, and I know I won't be eating fast food for a while. I encourage you all to see it if you haven't already.

I am so glad you made this post, I was just talking about that documentary last night. I haven't seen it yet. I heard it was excellent and that everyone should see it once, but it is not a movie that you'd want to buy. I can't believe he actually ate Mcdonalds for that many days straight, that is disgusting. Didn't he stay pretty much the same weight, but a whole bunch of his "invisible" health problems skyrocketed? I think it is great that someone made a documentary on this phenomena. It is a great, however distorted, picture of American culture, and will probably give some people the information they need to stop unhealthy eating patterns.

Actually, he gained 24 pounds in just 30 days! And his liver started to scar! Really makes you think twice before eating fast food!

YUCK! I felt sick after reading this entry. Anyway, I can't believe that this person would subject themself to this for the sac of science or art, which ever way you are looking at it. I would like to see the entire film but judging by what the post, as well as the comments have said, I would have to agree that I am going to rethink eating at a fast food chain the next time I need a quick fix.

I heard about this movie too. Apparently the man practically kills himself just by eating McDonald's for 30 days. I think we need some better fast food restaurants or something to fix the obesity in this country.

I believe that eating fast food three meals a day, everyday, for a month would definitely do that kind of damage. It has absolutely no nutritional value at all and most of the time it is soggy and gross....I will admit that I give in and eat fast food every once and a while. It isn't terrible to eat that kind of stuff ONCE IN A WHILE...I just wouldn't make a habit out of it.

I can’t believe that McDonald’s is so unhealthy! You would think that with all of their salads and low fat food items that it actually is good for you. However, they do have deep fried French fries and Big Macs that offset their efforts to present a healthy image. I hope McDonald’s has realized that they are one of the major contributors to America’s health problems. In reality, McDonald’s probably knew from the getgo that their products were unhealthy but chose to ignore it for profits.

I agree that McDonald's and other fast food places are completely unhealthy, however, we must use our own judgement and common sense. Don't eat fast food on a regular basis if you are trying to avoid obesity. I do not agree that it is McDonald's fault that a great percentage of our nation is obese. When do we stop blaming others and start taking responsibility for our own actions. Eat McDonald's once and a while or if you're in a hurry or in the mood for a greasy burger. But don't blame McDonald's and the fast food industry because we as a nation have no self control or common sense.

Ok ok ok, I've heard about the movie before and the rumors. I agree that it is horrible to see a man completely screw up his physical condition due to fast food. However, I feel that this is a matter or common sense again. Do you know anyone who eats fast food like that? Granted college students eat a lot of junk food but there is always a sense of balance where as the man in the film concentrates on McDonald's for 30 days. Obesity is a huge problem in our country but I dont think we have anyone else to blame but ourselves. I mean think about it, we are always looking to point the finger at someone else when we should really be pointing at ourselves. It's our own fault we don't have the motivation to get off of our asses and exercise once and a while. It's our responsability to eat healthy. We cannot blame the fast food industry for trying to entice us with mouthwatering ads about cheeseburgers and crispy fries. I recognize it's a problem in our country, but we cannot keep looking for directions to point the blame when it is ours all along.
