Celebs + Musicians = Bad Politics

i just wanted to get other peoples opinions on all the celebrities and musicians getting on the political bandwagon (mostly for kerry). Yes, there is freedom of speech and what not, but i cant help but think its taking too much focus off the politicans themselves. Want some proof?

Taken from our own MN Daily, which granted isnt the greatest newspapers, but nonetheless proves my point. Its great when an article on John Edwards rally, focuses on Ashton Kutcher for the first half of the article. Call me crazy...but I just wanted to know what other people thought.

I thought the same exact thing. The celebs are used to lure in votes. The politicians are always very happy when they have the backing of a celebrity because they have many votes from the fans of the celebs too. It is sad how much political power a person not really affiliated with politics may have. There are many celebs that are uninformed or just don't care, but because the are who they are, people will believe whatever they say.

I think it is a good thing that actors and musicians put some attention on politics...however, I do NOT think it is a good thing when voters put the focus on actors and musicians. It really is a sad ploy to try and get more votes, but it definitely draws a lot of attention. I think that voters should focus more on what the candidates stand for and less on who supports them.

I tend to agree.

Some celebs are well informed, and I think they have the right to speak their mind.

I hope that voters make their decisions based on policy, not celebs.

This trend of using celebs happens on both sides of the aisle - Shwartzeneger anyone - but the dems tend to use it more often.

If I were Kerry, I would have military personel that supported - and their were many supporting Kerry - me on stage with me instead. I think it would have been much more powerful.
