Welcome to second classs citizenship. Actually, gays in most states have pretty much always had second class citizenship for gays written as law, due to the numerous defense of marriage acts. The worst thing about these amendments that were just passed is that 9 of them not only banned gay marriage they also banned civil unions and any form of governmental recognition of gay unions. Also, all of the bans passed by a fairly large majority, showing there are still very strong homophobic sentiments in our country. Yay for equality.......

Its odd to see this on the blog, considering my sister and i just had a recent conversation about this. she raised a really good point: that it was a really bad to bring this to national attention and even worse to the supreme court. simply because you aren't going to do anything but weaken and dishearten the movement when you do things too early. there isnt enough public support for something like this. its sad to think there are so many closeminded, ignorant people...but its just too soon.

I think that it is morally wrong to marry someone of the same sex. I think that if we do not fight for this then we will be the ones to blame because we are allowing these people to sin.

Do you believe that it morally right to accept our tax money and to die for our country but not to receive the same benefits as everyone else? Do you believe it is morally right for heterosexuals to divorce and remarry as often as they need to to hopefully one day get it right? Do you believe that it is morally okay to put their children through this? I believe that my God does not expect me to judge others only to love and accept them for what and who they are. You or noone else has been put on this earth to worry about my sins. We will all ultimately sit in judgement one day and God will decide if my sins are worse than yours. gays aren't leppers they don't sin! Why discriminate? Why hate? people treat them like whites treated blacks in the Segregation period. It's stupid and wrong and I'm sick of people calling me a sinner calling me a slut and a whore becuase I like women as I do men. becuase they hate me should I hate them? I'm not christian but I've read the bible and it doesn't say that being gay is wrong. It doesn't say gays can't marry so why don't people leave us alone? It's not hurting them if we get married.

I strongly believe that gay marriage should be illigal, if they love each other then it shouldnt matter if they get the tax cuts or other benifits that married couples get. as for divorcees unless it is because of abuse it shouldnt happen it usually can get worked out

When the book of John was written, the words "hetrosexual", "homosexual", and "bisexual" did not exist. Modern science has shown all three of thease orientations be be normal. Acting on tham is expressing natural human psyco-sexuality. Please don't use the bible and my faith to make people into secon-class citizens because of your own hate and fear. I should also say that the bible condems "homosexual" acts six times, it condems "hetrosexual" non-cotial sex over 30 times. Don't be a hypocrite. We ALL sin.

i agree with a ban gay marriage.
If you dont worry about you, you should also take care about your children.OK, if you get a foster child,the child will same you and is he happy.Because the family influences their children a lot, and why dont you wonder yourselve "why god create a man and a woman?"

This is crazy, "why god created man and a woman?" if you want to think like that, god made male and female rats to. Are humans not mentally better than rats? To think that when we as humans have sex is somehow more magical and godly than the trillions of animals on earth that do the same thing for the same purpose is self important no matter what you believe. Homosexuality can be found all over the nature "god made". Simplicity that exists between almost all life on earth from blood to defecation is not proof of an "anti gay master plan". And for anyone to think that gay people will destroy marriage? Straight people destroyed marriage, you did it, 60 percent divorce rate? 1 in 3 American kids born out of wedlock? Brittany Spears? Gay people ultimately wouldn't be any better at marriage, what we are better at is real life morals.

I am have been wanting to get my man in to the church for a long time. just in the speirit, we have had manny honeymoons. They were great. I just want to make it real.

To David on the above editorial headed: This is crazy, "why god created man and a woman?" Let me answer that for you since you seen to forget the Noah story. God created Adam and Eve to populate the earth, same with Noah. God I feel made me gay, for the same reason he made different races. Diversity. I feel (and many do)that I was born this way. In 3rd grade, I had my first bf. It was just like any other childhood puppy love, holding hands, innosent kiss. No one in my family is gay, and I was not around, since I was raised in a very small country town, there was not gay influnces or 'out' people. So, how can America judge what is 'morally right'? They can't. How about focus on banning abuse, neglect, promiscuity. In that indicatation, most of the 'anti-gays' would be shuned upon as we are. I have my beliefs as does everyone, freedom of religion (I thought) so why are we being forced to abide by a belief. All i know is that my God tells me to love one another, and I cannot control who or what I love, just like I cannot control that I am left handed, because i was made this way. Why should I be forced to believe this is wrong? Just because I don't Hannukah or Quanza doesn't mean I judge against those who do. What is the diffence of me loving the same sex? If this was a choice, then why do some animals have same-sex unions? Look it up in Wikipedia.org. They can't control and neither can we.

Ok heres the deal. I'm 13 I'm gay and have been since I was born. I relized this when I was 9. I knew I liked bois before that but thats when I got a BF and started getting called gay. WTF?! People need to grow up a little. How the hell does it effect you if I get married to my bf or not?! Well?! We arn't discracing you! Any offense we do is directly against ourselves and you are not a part of it! So just leave me and my sexuality alone cause what I do in my chuch and in my bed and with my god has no concern with you! Ok I'm doen now sorry for the outburst, luvs! Enjoy your day ^-^ oh and a side note our world is full enough why do we need more people? I think people shoulds top having babys and adopt. Thier are so many kids without good homes.

I'm 21yrs.old and I have yet to understand what the big deal is on gay marrage. For a long time I was not only afraid but ashamed to come out of the closet, but I did and it not only opened my eyes but it made me feel good about myself. The church I was going to for a while at the time for 5+yrs. 'opened' their arms to me,I had been living on the streets since my teen yrs.. I grew up with out my mother and father and the 5 bros.and 2 sis. I have pretty much grew up seperated aswell. Drugs,drinkin,smokin was introduced to me as a child,so it was already a habit, yet they taught me how to accept people for who they are and not be so judgementle. Of corse they talked about what's sin,what is'nt,and what not....(keep in mind this is befor I came out)so I played a hudge role in our ministy after a while at the time but I always knew who I really was inside and the type of person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with...and its a guy. But when it came time for my pastor to know,who was like in a since a "father figure" to me, he then took me out of everything I was involved in and pretty much brushed me aside. The poeple who trusted me the most then despised me, my old bestfriend was now my enemy and like that I was out of the church;which brings me back to say I have yet to understand......People base alot of things on the bible,here in our country of what's right and what's not, as far as I know God's givin us our own FREE will but thats being stopped in our land of the "FREE country" because of people. Not only republicans,dem..,pol.,but the church people as well, The same type of people who taught me not to judge or condem are doing that, now i'm not saying this so they can suport me as to opossed to what they believe in NO!! I'm saying this so they could just stay out of it.
