I don't know how many of you have seen this, but its really pretty interesting. It has states ranked from highest avg IQ, to lowest avg IQ and who the state went for. Its very interesting to see who the 'smart' states voted for....

Posted by goss0060 at November 10, 2004 10:12 AM | TrackBackIQ measures intelligence. Intelligence isn't the same thing as wisdom. A person can have the highest IQ in the world, and yet have no common sense. Voting for presidents requires intelligence as far as what they stand for and stuff, true, but it requires wisdom in order to make the right choice.
So those statistics don't necessarily mean anything. Perhaps Bush simply campaigned less to the people in those states or Kerry more.
It seems pretty funny that all the lower intelligent people voted for Bush. And al the more intelligent people voted for Kerry. You could almost say that it looks like America is going dumb.
Posted by: Mike at November 16, 2004 01:57 PMI like how you think that an IQ has anything to do with intellegence. Highly educated people tend to be liberal, ecause all of the universities that teach them things are all liberal. Just look at the U of M, a huge liberal campus.
Posted by: Beth Sandager at November 16, 2004 02:18 PMIQ is only one way to determine intellegence. Many factors other than IQ have a role as well. I definitely believe (generally) the more education one has, the more liberal the become. IQ tests tend to be fairly accurate, however, and I think the election did show that the US is getting dumber.
Posted by: Hallie at November 17, 2004 06:06 PMI think it's pretty funny to see that. I never would have thought something like that would be spilt right down the middle. It doesn't prove anything, Bush still won, but it's cool to see.
Posted by: Anders Lindberg at November 18, 2004 12:40 AMI think it's funny to see that the southern states generally have a lower average IQ than the northern states, which seems to justify the cliche of "Dumb red necks."
Posted by: Jessica Cincoski at November 19, 2004 02:35 PMI think it is very interesting that there is even a correlation between the candidates and the average I.Q. of the voters. What I find even more interesting is that the higher I.Q. states voted for Kerry. Am I surprised? No. Since most universities are liberal, it would only make sense that higher educated people voted Kerry.
Posted by: Danny Liu at November 22, 2004 06:12 PMI think this just shows that liberals are easily influenced by propaganda and that our College age youth are just as easily influenced. I have a 167 IQ and find it hard to believe that any intelligent American could ever vote for a Democrat or their social or Foreign policies (if you can really call them that, they are really more of an agenda). I think this whole graphic just proves that those states who went for Kerry have more Gay Black homeless Pagans who like to kill babies...James
Posted by: James at April 3, 2005 01:36 PMWow james, that's really elloquent...obviously, those liberals are off their rockers. Your rhetoric of hate makes much more sense. I know you're right because you have such a high IQ. By the way, does use of the Dark Side of the force really make your skin shrivle up like a scrotum? Is that annoying?
Your adoring fan,

What's really funny is how quickly a person will grasp lies or distortions if those falsehoods give credence to his position. This chart has been around for three or four years. Trotted out after the 2000 elections to make the losing side feel better about themselves. It doesn't matter that the chart and data are untrue, the issue is never the issue. The revolution is the issue. Keep it up comrades, you are driving the American democratic party into the ground.
