Mia loves sitting in the sand and is even getting to like the water at the lake too. She mostly prefers to sit on the beach and let the waves come up over her legs, but she'll sometimes wade in a little further. She went right in this day because a mama duck brought her 5 chicks right up to the beach and so Mia had to go check them out.
Mia loves babies - real ones and dolls - and will happily kiss any of them. This one given to her by her great-grandparents is a favorite.
We had a great trip to Boston. It was so great to see Laura and Shawn, but Laura especially - she was 5 weeks from her due date and looked so happy.
We had a great birthday party for Mia up at the lake house and many family and friends were there to help us celebrate. We missed everyone who couldn't make it though. Mia had a good time, although was pretty tired by the time we got to the cake. Of course, that didn't stop her from digging in. She seemed to especially enjoy the frosting. And perhaps, most exciting of all, Mia has figured out how to stand up all on her own - no furniture, fingers, or help of any kind necessary, thank you very much. There is no stopping her now.
We took Mia to a local festival which had a lot of kids games, therefore, a lot of kids, free balloons and live music - three of Mia's favorite things right now. She had a blast.
We took Mia strawberry picking. She seemed to like it, but of course, on her side what's not to like. She sat on a blanket in the middle of the strawberry patch eating up the strawberries almost as fast as we could pick them! We did manage to get a few home, which she thoroughly enjoyed that evening by the campfire.
I'd say twice a day at least, Mia would go the stairs and ask to go down and then want to be put on the pool table to play balls. This game always started with Mia rolling the balls around and then repeatedly putting the balls in the pockets and then taking them out and always ended with Mia standing up on the table and running around while Aaron and I chased her down. Anyway, we might have a pool shark in the making.
