This week's definition: Leadership is a person's ability to articulate a clear vision and lead others towards accomplishing a goal.. Strong principles based in morality and ethics is necessary to be effective. A leader must have a wide perspective that can fluidly adapt to changes.

Analysis of the differences in the definitions: This is my final definition for leadership. It has evolved over the semester, but I feel that is it influenced by the new knowledge I have gained and reflects what I believe an effective leader should be.

Analysis of the differences in the definitions: "Tomorrow you discover the unanticipated effects of today's actions," (Heifetz, 2002). I included more definitive wording to better address the fluidity of leadership, and its requirement to be more adaptive to change.

Analysis of the differences in the definitions: Removed focus, added the term vision to the definition. "Your ability to articulate a personal vision can increase your ability to articulate a leadership vision" (Lee, p.33). I felt this week's reading about leadership vision greatly influenced what I defined as leadership so it was important to add that in.

Analysis of the differences in the definitions: I added a line about how leaders must be followed in order to be succesful, because "You are a leader only if others follow" (Rath, p.79). This is an important concept in leadership and I feel I may have overlooked it previously.

Analysis of the differences in the definitions: This week, I replaced the phrase "clear goal" with the word focus, because "focus talents are valuable because you can quickly evaluate, determine priorities, and get yourself and groups on track quickly (Clitfon et al, p.52). I also modified the wording of other sentences to make them more concise.

This week's definition: To me, leadership is anything or anybody that possesses the initiative and has the ability to influence actions and outcomes. Leadership requires conviction, motivation, and a clear goal. Leadership is a vital part of society and society's ability to successfully achieve goals and results. It is the vision that leaders have and their ability to inspire action to attain that vision that makes leaders distinct from the rest.
