Mother's Boyfriend Indicted on Charges of 2-year-old Boy

According to the Star Tribune, 16 months after a 2-year-old boy was beat to death, Demetrius Willis (age 23) was indicted by a grand jury on charges of second-degree murder for that case.

Police described Willis as the boyfriend of the child's mother, but Willis' mother told the Pioneer Press that this was not the case and that the two were in fact just friends.

The charges against Willis are aiding and abetting unintentional second-degree murder while committing first-degree assault, three other counts of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree manslaughter and one count of second-degree manslaughter.

Police told the Star Tribune that Willis has a long history (as a juvenile and as an adult) of domestic abuse.
