Republican Rep. Steve Gottwalt told the Star Tribune that a ban on head wear would make it easier for law enforcement to identify people and fair for everyone. However, some Muslims say they have a religious duty to wear their head wear at all times.

Suban Khalif and many other Muslim women say that taking off their head wear, even for a few minutes, is a big deal, the Star Tribune said.

Gottwalt’s bill has the exception of a person with a deformity or medical condition that requires headwear to be worn.
