Midwest Public Interest Law Conference

The conference will be held at Northwestern University February 5, 2011. The conference includes interviews and table talk and is for 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls.

The Conference offers you opportunities to:

  • Interview with a variety of public interest and government employers for summer law clerk and entry-level attorney positions
  • Meet with employers during Table Talk, a morning session where you can informally chat with employers about their organization's opportunities.

The deadline for students to register is December 8th. Students must register through the Career Center office by submitting the following information to lawcareers@umn.edu:

1. Student Last Name
2. Student Middle Initial or Middle Name
3. Student First Name
5. Current Class Year (1L, 2L or 3L)
6. Law School Name
7. Registered Last Year? (yes or no)

ABA Essay Contest for Young Lawyers and Law Students

The annual ABA Levit Essay Contest is run by the ABA Standing Committee on Lawyers' Professional Liability and the San Francisco law firm of Long & Levit, LLP; it focuses on the issue of attorneys' professional responsibility.

The deadline for submissions is February 18, 2011, and the winning essay will receive a cash prize of $5,000 and an all-expenses paid trip to the Spring 2011 National Legal Malpractice Conference in Boston on April 27-29.

6th Annual Arent Fox Diversity Scholarship

Arent Fox is seeking applicants for its 6th Annual Diversity Scholarship Program. The firm will award three first-year law students $15,000. The scholarship recipients will also join Arent Fox's 2011 Summer Associate Program. Each of the firm's three offices - Los Angeles, New York and Washington, DC - will host a scholar this summer. Candidates may only apply to one office.

Arent Fox will accept program applications from first-year law students beginning December 1, 2010 through January 15, 2011. For consideration, the full application package must be received before the January 15th deadline (please note that law grades must be forwarded thereafter upon receipt).
