Wow, I've never seen so many people at the Y except for at their seasonal program registrations! I think I grabbed the last open treadmill, after taking one of the last open parking spaces.

If you can call 4 miles long...
I typically do not do much running outdoors when it's 20°F or below. On the other hand, today I was curious to see what subzero was like.
It was cold.
Not too bad, though. I left no exposed skin, and only my arms and feet were cold during the first 5 minutes or so.
After that, the only annoyance was having obscured vision due to frost on my ski goggles. But at least my eyelashes weren't freezing, like I've had happen without goggles on (and on days that aren't as cold as today, at that).
Run stats:
Well...maybe not. But my 2-mile exercise went from fast to slightly faster. Could I maintain this pace for an additional 1.1 miles, it would yield a nice 5K time. I see that my last 5K event took a leisurely 29 minutes to complete.
Run stats:
Okay, I'm doing it again!

The conditions can't be tropical for three years in a row, can they?...
I would still like to actually finish in the target zone for which I train. For this year, that will still probably mean something between 3:56 and 4:22 (or, an average pace of between 9 and 10 min. miles). But I would even be happy to just be sub 4:30.
And, really, I'll just be happy to finish a third! But cooler and faster would be icing on the cake.
Eric is joining me; despite our different paces, I look forward to spiritual and technical training support in some manner. =)
I think I'm going to start doing this once a week for the rest of the winter, and see how fast I can run 2 miles. Today's results:
Run stats:
What a wonderful day to return to outdoor running—no wind, some sun, and a little bit of fresh snow. Which made the sidewalks a little caution-inducing, but the lake and landscape brilliant.

Well, I haven't run outdoors for nearly a month...but today's temperature is in the low single digits so I'm not about to begin making up for it yet! I think treadmills were designed for this weather.
