Another day at the track.
Run stats:
Ran to Hennepin Avenue today, despite it being relatively hot and humid. Was surprised to see my pace. I pushed myself, but didn't expect to be so close to 8.
Run stats:
It's exactly 5 miles from our house to Harriet, around, and back. Running from Harriet to Calhoun (but not around) and back adds another mile.
Run stats:
Lake Harriet sunset.
I didn't have time to run earlier today, so I took advantage of this beautiful evening and ran up to the lake. As expected, the view was my reward.
Run stats:
Bierman Track
No, "Fartlek at Bierman" is not some kind of German prank. It is a speed workout that I'm going to try to do weekly at Bierman track. It involves a relaxed run to the track (.6 mi.), 8 laps on the track, and a return run. And for approximately 100m each lap, I sprint as fast as I can.
More about fartleks and their inventor, Gösta Holmér, on Wikipedia.
Run stats:
Kayak encountering sea monster, Lake Harriet.
I've been enjoying the cool weather a lot (fall is my favorite season, so why not an advance screening?). But today, just a bit warmer and sunny, was certainly fabulous.
Run stats:
Downtown Minneapolis as viewed from the Stone Arch Bridge.
Quite breezy and at times gusty, but a nice running day nonetheless.
Run stats:
Ivy on the Rarig Center, West Bank.
About as nice as it gets in July for running in Minneapolis. Sunny with a cool breeze.
Run stats:
Looking toward Wisconsin along the Park Point beach.
I was up in Duluth for my 20 year high school reunion, and in addition to it being a fun series of events, the weather was spectacular. So I had to mark the occasion with a run, particularly because Park Point is such a fabulous place for running (it's perfectly flat). I used to bike here all the time when I was in junior high and high school, so it was really fun to be back on a favorite route. Also, our hotel is close to the finish of Grandma's Marathon, so lots of memories in this place.
I didn't actually run on the beach, but stopped for a short break and took this photo.
Run stats:
Flowers by the Rec Center.
A great sunny day, and these flowers caught my attention as I was leaving the rec center.
Run stats:
10th Avenue Bridge
Bridges play a prominent role in my midday runs near the U of M. Here's another view from 10th Avenue SE where it crosses the Mississippi River, as I run toward the West Bank.
Run stats:
A great day: watching the first day of the Tour de France, spending Independence Day with relatives at their pool, and breaking 300 miles this evening before fireworks.
Run stats:
Lake Harriet.
Though I did two bike rides today, I didn't run and by this evening was really eager to. So I headed out at 8:30, which is rare for me. But an evening run can be really nice, and tonight's certainly was. And wow, I should have gone another .4 to break 300 miles tonight!
Run stats:
Interstate 94.
Another cooler and cloudier day. Keep 'em coming, I say!
