Down Side of Spring

I would be willing to bet that the majority of people in the world would choose Spring as their favorite season. The warming of the weather, the greening of the earth, flowers, new life springing forth, and all that crap.

For me, Spring is actually kind of depressing. Spring means I have to start doing yard work again. Ugh. I like the idea of a nice garden, but I sure don't like the work. My husband couldn't care less, so only my own efforts (either at the actual yard work or at nagging my husband to do it) save us from being the biggest eyesore of the block. Well actually, we probably ARE the biggest eyesore on the block, but we'd be an even bigger, uglier eyesore.

While I love the cool, rainy weather during Spring itself, Spring also reminds me that in just a few short weeks, the hot, humid, mosquito-laden Minnesota summer will be well underway. Summer is by far my LEAST favorite season. Especially when you live in a house which, though it boasts many charms, does not include air conditioning among them.

Hey Lara - I was cleaning up my links and checked an old one for you. Imagine finding a blog! How are you? I'm about to finish up my postdoc and start an assistant prof position, etc etc, and all the other stuff I think I've been meaning to write you about for years (an old letter from you has been sitting on my desk for far too long). Anyway, we can take this to email, but I thought I would say a quick hello and let's catch up!
