I have noticed for some time now that I seem to have an obsession with parenthetical expressions. Granted, the body of writing contained in this blog is not exactly huge, but going back over past entries, I found only a few that were parenthesis-free. One of them was only 3 short sentences. On the other hand, in another entry consisting of just two sentences, one of which was mostly a quote from someone else, I managed to squeeze in two.
Apparently this topic isn't even a unique one for a blog posting. I did a quick Google search on "parentheses overuse" and found several others who wrote of the same problem. Perhaps we should form a support group or something. According to Wikipedia, overuse of parentheses is a sign of badly structured writing. Maybe that's why no one besides me and a few family members actually reads this thing!
