Late Summer, Six years On

Between performing every weekend with the Court Revelers (Yes! We have our own web site now!) at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, the Jewish high holidays, the start of the new Scottish dance season and the usual work commitments, this is always a busy time of year.

The Fall is my favorite season. This week we are getting our first taste of autumn weather with temps in the 50s and 60s. I love it. In fact, today's weather is a lot like the weather on September 11th of six years ago. That day started out beautiful, too. At 8am, as I made my way to the polls to play my part in the American democratic system by voting in the primary elections, I breathed in the crisp air and felt that all was right in the world. Ten minutes later, when I got in my car and turned on the radio, everything was changed. Six years later, we can barely remember how we used to be able to go to the gate meet family and friends at airports. Six years later, a large part of the world doesn't rate us much higher than the terrorists in the popularity polls.

Meh. I can't wait for winter.
