Analysis of definition:
My definition of leadership is definite. It took a couple weeks to understand what I feel is the actual definition of leadership and I finally got it! To me I felt this week's readings to be informing but they are not what defines leadership, communication, a key part to leadership, and 'meet ups' eh nothing to do with the definition of leadership, atleast not mine.

This week's definition: "Leadership; A continually process of setting and completing (accomplishing) personal wants. Being able to know where you are now, where you want to be and how you will get there."

Analysis of definition: I had an epiphany while reading this week's reading assignment. It changed my definition greatly!! I realize I was focusing my definition on leadership as being leader of a group, alone. When really leadership to me (now) is an individual thing. I fell in love with the Boyatzis' theory of self directed learning, which is very much the blame of this sudden change.

Analysis of definition: With this week's definition I attempted to conclude it but it seems it's just becoming too long again. If that makes sense.

Analysis of definition: This week I decided to keep my definition pretty much the same as it was before, although I did re-word sentences and spell check. I have still yet to create a conclusion to the definition because I feel that leadership is a on-going and can't really be concluded unless it its time for a new leader to take place. Though I do feel this week's reading related to me a lot more than they would relate to any other U of M students, being that I am African American, but I did not find them relevant to my definition of leadership. Racism is a conflict, and as a leader, you should be able to solve conflict and prevent it from happening again, as stated in the end of my definition thus far.
Without purposeful goals have no explanation as to why people should follow you. Additional to being a successful leader you must learn to practice good ethics. Doing so can be difficult when challenging issues that consist of the four dilemma paradigms; individual versus community, justice versus mercy, short-term versus long-term or truth versus loyalty are presented. Being able to over come those issues and staying ethically loyal to those who follow is key to determining how successful your leadership is."

Analysis of definition:
My definition of leadership has changed a lot. After reading last weeks comments on my definition I was a little upset at how my definition was seen as being "too long to be useful", I found this as a great opportunity to "get on the balcony". There I was able to look over my definition and see that it was indeed too long to be useful, although I have so much to define. I also ended my definition with "to be continued", because I honestly am not sure how to conclude my definition.

"My personal definition of leadership is that it begins within. Knowing yourself and what important roles you are to carry out is what makes and defines what I consider leadership. To be a leader you must also know how you and your decisions for others affect them. Being a leader is includes being able to have a clear personal goal and reason for completing that goal. Being able to over come those issues and staying ethically loyal to those who follow is key to determining how successful your leadership is."

This week's definition:
"My personal definition of leadership is that it begins within. Knowing yourself and what important roles you are to carry out is what makes and defines what I consider leadership. A leader isn't just naming yourself as leader, you must have a plan as to why you are a leader and what you are a leader of. The seven Cs' of leadership:consciousness of self, commitment, congruence, collaboration, common purpose, controversy with civility, and citizenship can be used as a guide line of determing your leadership, and used to get others to follow (Astin, H. S., & Astin, A. W. (1996).To be a leader you must also know how you and your decisions for others affect them. Being a leader is includes being able to have a clear personal goal and reason for completing that goal.

Analysis of the deference in definitions:
This week I decide to add a snipet from A social change model of leadership development: Guidebook (version III), to the begining of my definition. I my previous definition called for recognition of all seven Cs' in some sort of way, so I felt it neccessary to add them. I like how the article displayed leadership as something that not only impacts self but those around them as well; the individual, the group and the community.

Analysis of the definition: I decided to extend my definition of leadership from last week. My definition this week was really impacted by both required readings. I added to the ending of my definition because everything I stated in the previous definition was still true and all I felt needed was an addition to what I had stated, and next week will most likely add more rather than change. The readings brought out a lot of hidden parts of the decision making process of being a leader, which I felt very informal and made me question "my" ethics and what is actually ethical. It was quite interesting.
My personal definition of leadership is that it begins within. Knowing yourself and what important roles you are to carry out is what makes and defines what I consider leadership. Leadership is also being able to have a clear personal goal and reason for completing that goal. Without purposeful goals have no explanation as to why people should follow you.

I decided to slightly change the ending of my definition of leadership and add a little bit more. What I changed in the ending is that the definition I have listed is only what "I" consider leadership thus far. I also added the importance of having a personal goal, which was predominant in the artificial (Lee, R. J., & King, S. N. 2001). In this reading I found myself doing a lot of self evaluation to discover what my own personal goals were to feel accomplish and what seemed most important in the reading the, why.
