A group of 30 Army Reserve soldiers have returned home after a year of duty in Afghanistan just in time to spend the holiday season with their families, Fox 9 News reported.
"It's very nice to have my husband home and to be here with the family and be complete," Kris Scharette, a soldier of the 407th Civil Affairs Battalion told Fox 9 News. "I wake up every morning with a smile on my face because my kids are there."
Fox 9 News reported that the reservationists spent a year in Afghanistan helping to build schools, bridges, and roads. Many of the 30 soldiers will be returning in the summer.
Amongst those who attended a special ceremony that honored the soldiers was Gov. Mark Dayton, Fox 9 News reported.
"Thank you for a job well done. Thank you for your patriotism," Dayton said.
