Saltless in Seattle

From Seattle Times, to improve water quality in Puget Sound: Seattle refuses to use salt; roads "snow packed" by design

Comments

I attended an Alfa Romeo club owner's meeting when I last visited Seattle. I was surprised by the number of pristine cars I saw.

As much as I love the marque, I have to admit, they made some pretty diabolical design decisions that made body rust even worse than you would expect for a 70s vintage car.

The locals explained the salt-taboo... which also explained the lack of obvious rust.

I'd make that trade any day. I occasionally can't make it to work, and I don't have to do rust repair... that's should be the textbook definition of a Win-Win scenario.
