Wendell Cox summarizes recent US mode share data Decade of the Telecommute . He notes telecommuting is overtaking transit mode shares in the 2000s, though both have risen.

I do not think that work-at-home is the same as telecommute. The latter supposes an office that one can commute to, as many of us occasionally do. Many work-at-home people have no such place.

And what about the home-based businesses where the offices are based at home? Is that considered telecommuting and adding to the increase in telecommuting workers?
