Boy Scouts of America Contemplates Lifting Gay Ban
The Boy Scouts of America may lift its ban on gay scouts by early next week, USA Today reported.
"The policy change under discussion would allow the religious, civic or educational organizations that oversee and deliver Scouting to determine how to address this issue," Spokesman Deron Smith said on Monday, as reported by USA Today.
BSA experienced months of protest preceding the policy change, CNN reported, including calls from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. Eric Andreson, father of a denied gay California Boy Scout, said "...if they are going out with this much publicity they couldn't possibly say no now," CNN reported.
If BSA executes the policy, the Southern Baptist Convention may reassess its decades-old partnership with the Boy Scouts, USA Today reported.
