E-Learning Project Update

The new University Writing Program's First-Year Composition Program has explicitly stated outcomes related to information literacy. Because of more stringent requirements, the program also anticipates a 20% increase in student enrollment over the current composition programs at the University. Given these changes the demand for Unravel workshops will outstrip our ability to provide effective support. The result of this is the Libraries' E-Learning Project. If you are interested in learning more, please see the brief report about this project.

The E-Learning Project group is now in the process of designing quality interactive learning tutorials. The first modules to be designed are:

* Library Organization and Services Overview
* Popular vs. Scholarly
* Effective Keyword Searching
* Using Source Material (aka Avoiding Plagiarism)

Environmental Scan for Scholarly Communication

The Scholarly Communication Collaborative asks all liaisons to complete an environmental scan of each of their departments. This information will help liaisons in their work with faculty on author’s' rights issues and will also help identify faculty champions who can join with us in advocating for change in the scholarly communication system. Liaisons are asked to complete their scans by August 15.

Reappointment Review Process Begins

We will soon begin the academic review process for reappointment, promotion and continuous appointment actions. Librarians who intend to seek continuous appointment before their mandatory decision year must notify their supervisor and Linda DeBeau-Melting in writing on or before August 6, 2007. Librarians on annual appointments or Associate Librarians who intend to seek promotion must also notify their supervisor and Linda in writing on or before August 6.
