From the GMR: Web Services/Health Sciences Librarian Position Available (Dayton, OH)

Wright State University Libraries seek a motivated, energetic and creative individual to develop innovative web-based approaches for providing access to library services and resources and to serve as liaison to academic departments in the life and health sciences.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains skills and knowledge of current and emerging technologies to provide access to library services and digital resources in an online environment; serves on the University Libraries’ Web Team to assist in creating and maintaining the libraries’ website; provides technical expertise and assistance to library users and other library staff; develops and provides consumer health outreach and services; provides information services in a variety of formats to faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and community users; works with faculty to develop and implement class presentations, tutorials, and other supporting instructional materials; develops and manages collections in assigned areas of life and health sciences; and serves on the Sciences Collection Development Team.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited M.L.S. degree; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a team environment and to collaborate and build consensus; ability to multi-task and prioritize projects; experience creating and designing web pages; experience with Web 2.0 technologies; ability to take initiative and produce results in a persuasive and timely manner. Preferred: undergraduate or graduate degree in life sciences or health sciences; experience in academic or health sciences library; experience with a variety of microcomputer applications in a networked environment, including graphics programs and scripting languages; knowledge of database-driven websites; familiarity with usability studies and ADA compliance.

ENVIRONMENT: The Wright State University Libraries comprise the Paul Laurence Dunbar Library, which serves the need of the general academic community, and the Fordham Health Sciences Library, which serves the needs of the Boonshoft School of Medicine, the College of Nursing and Health, the School of Professional Psychology, and graduate programs in the Biomedical Sciences. The Libraries’ website provides an integrated scholarly information network, which incorporates local, state, and Internet resources (www.libraries.wright.edu). The University is a member of OhioLINK, an advanced statewide information system. Wright State University, located 10 miles east of Dayton, Ohio, enrolls over 16,000 students and offers a comprehensive program of study with doctorates in seven fields. SALARY: $40,000 (minimum). Benefits include 22 vacation days/year, 10 holidays, health and dental plan, state retirement system, and paid life and disability insurance.
