From the GMR: Head, NLM's Collection Access Section

Happy New Year! Please see the following message forwarded from NLM.

I am pleased to announce that Dee Clarkin has accepted the position of Head, Collection Access Section, Public Services Division. Dee's current position at NLM is Head of the Onsite Unit in CAS, managing all aspects of a busy circulation department. She is responsible for the closed stack operation and delivering approximately 700-800 stack requests per day to patrons in the main Reading Room. She also serves as COTR for a multi-year contract providing onsite staff to oversee the photocopy and printing equipment and patron registration services for the Reading Room.

As many of you know, CAS is responsible for managing a document delivery network of over 3,000 biomedical libraries in the US, Canada and abroad, which controls the distribution of 1.8 million interlibrary loan requests annually. The Section also manages DOCLINE, an automated request routing and referral system.

CAS has a long history of working closely with many other Divisions in LO, as well as with the RMLs and staff in network libraries throughout the U.S. Many of you will get to know her better as she continues the tradition of maintaining good working relationships with staff particularly in TSD and BSD.

Please join me in congratulating Dee on her new position, and in wishing her future success.

Martha Fishel
Chief, Public Services Division
