From the GMR: Books and Free Article citations in PubMed

Hi Folks,

You may have noticed a change in the way PubMed displays Free Articles and offers a link directly to the PubMed Central article when available. To read about these (and one other) visit, the NLM Technical Bulletin at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/ma10/ma10_pm_books.html

Holly.

Subject: Books citations in PubMed

PubMed was updated late yesterday (Tuesday, 4/6) with a small number of citations from the Entrez Books database. With these additions, there are some minor differences in the Summary display format. The following Tech Bull article has details:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/ma10/ma10_pm_books.html

Below is a summary of the new labels and links that you will see on the Summary display:

* The label: Books & Documents when free full text is available from the Entrez Books database.
* The label: Free PMC Article when free full text is available from PubMed Central.
* The label: Free Article when free full text is available from the publisher or other full text provider. The link to the full text appears on the Abstract display.
* Free text link: Appears when free full text is available from either the Books database or PubMed Central.
