Visiting Research Information Specialist
UIC's Library of the Health Sciences - Chicago
UIC's Library of the Health Sciences seeks .5 FTE Librarian to work on a Greater Midwest Region National Network/Libraries of Medicine subcontract to assist with the development of an EBM (evidence-based medicine) online course and other reference activities. The project period will run approximately 35 weeks.
This individual will assist with a variety of project tasks including assisting with the development of online modules, coordination and management of project reports, project data collection, assessment of online modules, marketing, and other project-related tasks. Other responsibilities include information services, reference consultation, Ask A Librarian coverage, and other duties as assigned.
A Masters degree from an American Library Association accredited program is required. Two years of professional experience in health sciences librarianship with an understanding of EBM concepts and a familiarity with medical databases is preferred. The candidate must be well organized, able to work independently with limited supervision, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Experience using Adobe Captivate, Blackboard and a familiarity with online instruction development.
Must be able to work 20 hours a week beginning July 2010 through February 2011.
Salary/Hours/Contract: Salary is $20 per hour.
