From the GMR: Assistant Librarian - Interlibrary Loan and Reference, Des Moines University
The Des Moines University Library is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Librarian-Interlibrary Loan & Reference.
Duties for this highly visible position may include providing prompt reference and interlibrary loan services to faculty, staff, students and area health care professionals; supervision of Student Library Assistants; conducting computer searches of PubMed and MEDLINE as well as utilizing DOCLINE, SILO and the OCLC Interlibrary Loan function; coordinating medical and health science database training sessions with Education Librarian; maintaining an accurate record of billings from lending libraries and reconciliation and billings to individuals/departments; serve with Director as liaison with Polk County Biomedical Consortium; assist with daily circulation duties and more.
Requirements for this position include Master's in Library Science plus another advanced degree in Education, Life or Health Sciences; 7 or more years of academic or health sciences library experience focusing on Interlibrary Loan & Reference services; supervisory experience; experience training/educating faculty and students in library research; familiarity with medical library resources and databases such as MEDLINE and PubMed; excellent communication skills and being able to take evening/weekend calls from Student Library Assistants.
