The NLM exhibit booth at the Annual Meeting of the Medical Library Association (NLM) featured theater presentations to bring users up-to-date on several NLM products and services. The presentation recordings are available at the link below and will soon be accessible from the NLM Distance Education Program Resources page.

Topics include: NLM apps and social media; History of Medicine Division exhibitions, programs, and resources; NIH Public Access compliance and PubMed My NCBI, MedlinePlus Connect and Meaningful Use; Resources for a multi-cultural world; and updates on PubMed, PubMed Central International, Health Services Research and Public Health, PubMed Health and ClinicalTrials.gov.

Passing this along from the Midwest Chapter/MLA Awards and Scholarships committee - if you're attending MLA in Boston, I highly recommend you apply for this Free Lunch award. It's a very easy application (a paragraph or two) and the Chapter Sharing Roundtables are a great experience. The deadline is March 27th, so apply now!

The official name of the lunch is the Chapter Council Presents Sharing Roundtables Luncheon, which will be held during the Medical Library Association Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts on Sunday, May 5th. The Roundtable is not just a lunch, but a great learning and networking opportunity as well. You can select one of 24 topics and participate in an informal and lively discussion at your lunch table. The list of topics is located on page 8 of the MLA Meeting Preliminary

*Tickets are $42 and must be pre-paid by the applicant.
*The two winners will be reimbursed $42 each after the meeting.

Applications must include:
*Name, work or home address and email address or phone number.
*The specific roundtable that was selected.
*A paragraph or two describing "Why I Deserve a Free Lunch."

Creativity and conciseness are encouraged! Entries are judged on humor, pathos and/or neediness.

The preliminary program includes information on plenary speakers, CE courses, various events, and the concurrent program sessions. E-conference only is also an option.

Mark your calendars not only for the 2012 MLA Annual Meeting in Seattle but also for the special international meeting in Boston in 2013. Start thinking of 2013 paper and poster submission ideas now and submit whenever you're ready - the MLA paper and poster submission site opened on November 30, 2011 and will remain open until May 1, 2012.

MLA '13, will take place on May 3-8, 2013, in Boston, and will incorporate the 11th International Congress on Medical Librarianship (ICML), the 7th International Conference of Animal Health Information Specialists (ICAHIS), and the 6th International Clinical Librarians Conference. The Boston meeting will provide a unique opportunity to explore the global interdependency of health information at a federated international meeting. Submission of papers and posters began earlier than usual because of the lead times needed for international participants. 2013 contributed papers and posters submission deadline is May 1, 2012. Final findings and results may be added to the accepted papers and posters up to February 1, 2013, so you don't have to have completed research to submit a paper or abstract.

The 2013 meeting theme is "One World: Information in an Interdependent World," which emphasizes global interdependencies in all health-related areas. "One Health" is meant to encompass not only human and animal health, but also public health, environmental health, climate change, food safety and production, and international health policy.
