Reality Branding

"Reality branding is relevant. It doesn't decide what it wants to sell, what it wants to do, and what it wants to say, then force people to swallow it. It finds out what is really needed, what is really at stake, and answers that need (even if the need is kind of dumb)."

For the client assignment, I've chosen to take part in the Greenman Festival project. I chose to take part in this, because it sounds like a fun client to work for.

Green Box Design: mending and caring

The challenge of this project is to explore and learn what I as a designer can do to an ordinary box that can become effective in terms of eco-friendly designing.

Green Design Research

In the process of ordering some sample papers, I came across some interesting facts about how I can support and promote eco-friendly materials. First, I should choose products/packaging that use recycle materials, second, buy locally, because the products they sell probably didn't travel too far meaning less fuel, also meaning less polution, and third, don't encourage manufacturers that don't use eco-friendly materials. I guess that I never really looked at what I buy usually, but now after doing some research, I feel that maybe I should start looking for eco-friendly materials and that way I can become an active citizen.

my thoughts:

Hearing about the graphic designer's manifesto, when presented in class, was kind of exciting for me, because it made me feel like what I was doing with my major might mean something more and that it wasn't just something totally made up when I came into the design program.
