My First Shirtdress

Aww.. here she is!

shirtdress.jpg

I luuurve this pattern! This is one of my new favorites. I don't often remake patterns, but there is definitely another shirtdress in my future. In my very near future. On the next one I will do straight sleeves instead of multiple poofinesses and i will probably skip the belt loops and belt and do a wider sash that I can wear with other things too. The top button could probably be another 1/2 an inch lower, but it doesn't pull, so I'm not going to worry about it. Too late now, anyway!

If I get all my homework done like a good girl I will work on the Burda pattern. I cut it out and interfaced it last night. Can't wait to see what it looks like in person!

This dress looks just adorable on you. I definitely think you need to make more of them!

Supercute. Is that the Threads pattern where it looks like it's mostly made up in polyester? (not that put me off buying it) Looks great.

So cute. I have Vogue 2412 but I haven't had the time to put it together. Making dresses for all of my sister's upcoming wedding-related functions takes priority!

What a great reminder of why the shirtdress is a true classic. You look as "cute as a bug" in this stylish, PURPLE dress.

Oh, wow, I lurve it too! I wasn't hot on the pattern at all. But you make it look good and that fabric...wow.

Gorgeous! I've been obsessing about this pattern but haven't tried it yet... glad to see it turns out so well. :)

Stunning dress!! Love it!

Thanks so much y'all!! I totally forgot to ask about the pockets... should I add them?? I sort of like it how it is, but the pockets did seem to add a sort of mid-century diner waitress thing that I liked. Though admittedly, part of me just wants to move on to the next dress. I'm so impatient!

This dress is cute on you, too. Thanks for telling of the Burda Style page. Now if I could only figure out how to download those patterns--DUH! I say leave the pockets off of this one. What is the fiber content of your dress? I have this pattern waiting for me, but I am not sure what to use. I like the crispness of yours. CHEERS

I agree, no pockets on this one.

nice work! love the pattern and the fabric choice, it would look nice with a belt option as well. Enjoy!

So I am a lurker and came here via a knitting blog excursion. Just so you know, you're an inspiration. On my site I speak of the sewing blogger who makes things and acts as if it's not a life altering experience but simply a matter of fact. Someday when I am tired of knitting, I will try what you do.

Just a little FYI -- I'm adding your blog to my blog's sidebar!

Thank you for all the shirtdress love! I am excited for the temperatures to go above 30 so I can wear it. Also, Heather, it actually does have a little belt, but it blends into the fabric in the picture. I took one where I was holding it out, but it looked really really dumb. Heh. On the next one, I think I will ditch the beltloops and make a much wider belt that I could also wear with jeans and other things.
