Sewing Before Reading
Here are some shirts!
I figured that I needed some long sleeved shirts to wear for everyday since it is so cold in my apartment and most of my long sleeves are tshirts so here are two. The first is loose and comfy and the second I tightened up a lot from its original incarnation. Fits well, but not so loungy. I am quite proud of the topstitching (that you can't see in the pic, of course) and I feel like my topstitching has improved a lot. In my first version of the first shirt, I slipstitched the facings to avoid topstitching, but now I am no so averse to it.

Ok. Time for tea and some reading. Why, oh why is most of the (allegedly scholarly) literature on games so bloody terrible? Sigh.
p.s. We finally hit 70 in WoW and I got my flying mount. Yippee!!

Cute blouses! Makes me want to sew for myself. I rarely have time for anymore.
Just a comment about topstitching. I bought a special foot a couple of years ago that has made topstitching very easy. My machine is a Janome and the foot is called a "Ditch Quilting Foot". Some machine brands call it an "Edge Joining Foot". Others I have seen call it an "Edge Foot". Basically, mine is a wide foot with a thin blade straight down the middle. You sew with the blade riding along the edge of the fabric. In the case of your blouse, you ride the blade along the edge of your facing. You have to shift the needle position to the right or left as appropriate. It is obvious how to do that on my current machine. On my old machine (Kenmore), I figured out that you had to move the stitch width while doing a straight stitch to get the stitch off center. This really makes topstitching a no-brainer. My mom has my Kenmore now and my Janome foot fits it as well.

That is great advice; I didn't know that such a tool existed! I'll have to look for one when I am home in VA for the holidays.

Two more cute tops! I really like that second top. Do you like sewing with the Built by Wendy patterns? (Sometimes patterns drive me crazy, but I really like the looks of those patterns...)
