(Strap)less is More

Ok, so there is no zipper or hem, but here it is. I can make a slimmer sash, if need be.

The bodice is a touch lumpy since I used very thick interfacing in the lining. That will take a little tweaking, but should be manageable. Thoughts??

I'd use either a thinner sash, or a red one, or one less of a contrast than the white.

I think you're totally right. I made that one a while ago as sort of an obi that tied in the back, but I think a thinner one would look better. I'm going to keep it blue, I think. (It is actually pale blue, but looks washed out) I redid the bodice to be less lumpy and the seam to the skirt looks better, too. I think I can go without one if I want and I can always make a red one, too :D

I think the wider sash looks ok, but I would tie it higher to give more of an empire waist, and eliminate the blockiness of the bodice under the bust. As is, it makes you look wider than you are.

I love the red, by the way. :)

I agree on the empire if you're going to do the sash...I like it overall, though...

Empire wouldn't work with this pattern because there is a waist seam. I could always make another :D I'll make the thin sash tomorrow and post a pic.

I agree- if you slim the sash a bit this dress would be nicer than all the ones you tried on at the boutiques. That color is absolutely fabulous.

"Empire wouldn't work with this pattern..."

In which case, I'd definitely go for a thinner sash then. I don't mind the contrast myself, makes it a bit more unusual. I think a lighter interfacing might help too. :)

On the other hand, if you're on a roll and have a desire for a dozen wedding dresses, you could make another. ;)

The red is gorgeous on you, it makes your skin look fantastic. I too would prefer a thinner sash.
But...I really love the vogue 2134 you made.
Beautiful, unusual and flattering. I'm secretly hoping it beats out any other dresses to become 'the one.'
