Copyright workshops

Six in-person copyright information sessions have been scheduled for this semester. Though primarily intended for faculty, all sessions are open to all UM participants (including library staff, if interested!) Please share with any interested groups or mailing lists!  There will also be a couple of online-only sessions later in the semester, but those will be opened first to staff and faculty at coordinate campuses or otherwise working out-state.

Re-vamped 'Assignment Calculator'

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes...we have just re-launched the Assignment Calculator!

Web Development and Web Presence Management Group (with help from the Teaching and Learning Collaborative and a variety of staff) have been working over the summer to updated the tool. It has features that our old "beta" version had--like the ability for students and instructors to modify assignments or create one from scratch and the ability to get emails. It also has new features like "assignment to-do list" and "My active assignments." It is linked on the "Course Resources" tab.

Available "assignments":
  • Research paper
  • Speech
  • Video Project
  • Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) Proposal
  • Primary Sources Research Project
  • Lab Report
  • Poster (in PowerPoint)
  • CLA Math Senior Project
Please give it a try and let us know about any "bugs," broken links, or additional features. We are working on a more officially worded email for liaisons to share with departments but please feel free to share this news.

Students can check out what computers are available in the Libraries
As reported in the recent "Libraries Data+Technology News" email. Please share with service point staff to help students find open computers.

Mobile Web Site: Locating open public computers

Ever wonder if there is an open public computer available at Wilson, Walter, or Magrath? Well, students may wonder and now they can find out if the Libraries have any open public computers on our mobile web site. Wilson, Walter, and Magrath currently show open computer availability and we hope to have Bio-Medical Library computers added soon.  Check it out at: https://www.lib.umn.edu/mobile/workstations.php . Please let Web Development know if you have any other ideas for improvement! Thanks to John Barneson and Paul Bramscher for their work on this nifty application.
