Moss Reported Traded to Raiders

The St. Paul Pioneer Press is reporting that Randy Moss has been traded to the Oakland Raiders for starting linebacker Napoleon Harris, the seventh overall pick in the upcoming draft and a 2005 late-round pick. The Star Tribune has also posted a similar story.

I can hear people cutting up their season tickets as we speak. Remember the plexi-glass they had at the Dome for Twins games? They'll now have to install that once again but this time for Vikings home games to keep fans from charging the field looking for the culprits that OK'd this trade. People scream about a referendum to pass a stadium bill. How about a referendum to let the people of Viking land have a say in who goes and who stays?

Even though New England has proven you don't need to have a superstar player in order to be a winning team, Moss was beloved by Vikings fans. If this trade is indeed true, a huge void will be left when #84 laces up in silver and black instead of purple and gold.

Yes, I feel like the Tin Man looking for a heart. As mine has broken. The Vikings Front Office could be compared to the Scarecrow.....still looking for a brain. Let's just hope that Daunte Culpepper and the rest of the players are not cowardly lions and can show a lot of courage this coming season.

Let's hope a lot.

I plan to call up my friend Spike of the Raiders this evening. First order of business will be to have Spike FedEx a Raider's Moss jersey to me as soon as one is available. It's the jersey I will be wearing to Vikings games this coming season.

So, how about you? Are you against the trade or opposed to it? Will you show up in silver and black this coming season to voice your opposition to the trade? Who should the Vikings nab with the Number Seven pick in this year's NFL Draft? If the Vikes keep it, that is. Just leave a Comment below and let's get some dialouge going!

Did #84 cost us games last year?

Did he hurt the team last year?

That is why (although he has a great talent) I am not bothered by his possible departure

KFAN dude just got off the phone with a Raider reporter. Words used to describe Harris are "stiff", "out of position", "fast but clueless", "shouldn't even be factored as part of the trade". Shall I continue?

Vikes will have to pick up Mason at WR to even think about a good year. Unless they are going into rebuild mode.

This sucks. This sucks. This sucks. Why is it so hard to be a fan of Minnesota sports?

I'm going to have to sleep on this before I say too much.

THIS IS A BLACK BLACK DAY FOR MINNESOTA FANS.
I AM IN UTTER SHOCK.
I LOVE RANDY AND I GUESS I WILL LOVE HIM IN OAKLAND. I SAY WE FOLLOW THE PACK AND ALL MOSS FANS WEAR HIS NEW JERSEY TO ALL GAMES.
BONEHEAD MANUEVER...I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS.....

No comment at this time. I need time to digest this. I honestly thought this would not happen.

If the vikes plan on doing this they better sign a good reciever or find a way to pick up Braylon Edwards or Mike Williams with the seventh pick. Burleson is good, but one of the reasons he was so good is because Moss had about half of the defense watching him. Moss is great and will always be great, I hope he has a great career in Oakland. It will definetly be hard to watch a game knowing that we traded our best player for a draft pick and a decent linebacker.

This is the worst day of my life as a Viking fan. Worse than when we lost two of the Super Bowls on my birthday. We are screwed totally. Trade the best player in the NFL? Trade the player that made even the losses entertaining? I feel like Walter Payton did when Mike D*ckhead let fatboy Fridge have his SB TD. Have fun Dante (Koby) w/o the Freak! Piss on Red-On-The-Head-Like-A-D*ck-On-A-Dog!

I personally am devastated Brian! I feel for the entire Viking nation of fans and it will require some sort of counseling in order for this 40yr fan of the Vikes to find my way back to the bandwagon.

As an out of state fan, I will be hard pressed to spend any future money to make the annual treks up to Minnesota to watch my club continue to falter in achieving their Super Bowl goals.

Peace out!

SBG listens to Dan Barreiro talk about how this is a good trade for the Vikings. What a crock. He's the most exciting player on the team. His impact on all facets of the Vikings office is easy to see. When he's in the game they can run, they can pass, they can score. When he's not, they struggle.

Forget about all the lockerroom nonsense. Couldn't care less. Bottom line -- the Vikings are not as good of a team and certainly aren't as exciting without Moss.

To not get an immediate difference maker on defense kills this deal. Even if the Vikes had received Buchanon or Woodson, it is still an iffy deal. I just hope this doesn't eclipse the Hershel Walker trade (sorry about bringing that one up).

This is the darkest day for the Minnesota Viking Franchise!! and a day of mourning for all Viking Faithful Worse than the super bowl losses, worse then the 98&2000 NFC championship game losses, and yes i will even say it was worse then the Walker deal. I'am extremely sick over this. Our favorite player has been taken from us with not much in return to feel better about it! This feels too wrong!!! I will enjoy watching Randy tear it up in Oak Town and proving to the brain wizards at winter park that they made a personal mistake and caused nightmares for their fans once again!!!!!

Posted by: Madogg at February 23, 2005 10:07 PM

This might workout, Randy's best years are probably behind him, at least in Minnesota. In Oakland he may have a reincarnation.
But! The Vikings are going to be so far under the salary cap now that they will have to go out and sign some free agents. IF! they can get the right free agents to play at the Metrodome. Who knows?
So the trade ends up being the #7 pick, the linebacker, a seventh rounder, and what ever free agents they can lure with the freed up money. Hmmm!

COME ON! So we lost Moss, it was no real surprise.

But I thought that we were Vikings fans, that is V I K I N G S not M O S S.

Follow the pack?
Were Silver and Black?

No! Not now not ever! I am a Minnesota Vikings Fan. That by the way is short for Fanatic, I am fanatical about the team.

So come on, get over it, the Vikings are a team not a player. Sure the team sometimes disappoint but soemtimes they give pure joy, it is part of the roller coaster ride that being a Fan of a sports team gives you. Enjoy it.

it is simply too early to get excited about all of this. We don't know the results of the draft yet. We don't know the aquisitions made in the offseason are with the free money. My only problem is that Red McCombs would have more reason to do this deal for the money then for the talent brought in. If the sale of the team doesn't go down and McCombs sits on the money he is saving by the exit of Moss I believe we should all storm down to San Antonio and force him to sell the team to Taylor at Taylors fair market price. This has more to do with Red freakin McCombs then anyone and I can't even put in to words my hate for that bastard

Posted by: aaron at February 24, 2005 11:59 AM

Red sucks. He is a greedy old man. We were 25 million under the cap last year and didn't do pooh about it. Red only wants money, and he screwed the Minnesota Vikings fans. Moss for an injured linebacker and a 7th round hopefull. I thought signing Mike "dumbass" Tice was the worst that could happen. I am now a Raiders Fan!!!!!!! Goodbye
