Thursday Updates

VU Podcast Thirty

Just a very short podcast with me going solo. I cover the upcoming game against the Lions as well as some other NFL news.

Introducing the VU Videocast Page

I decided I needed a place for my videocasts ala my podcast page. So, I put one up. I'll work on getting an XML for people with iPods that play video.

Get Out the Vote

Minnesota Vikings rookie defensive tackle C.J. Mosley is a finalists for DIET PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK honors. Feel oour guy is worthy? Then vote!

VU Pick 'Em League Update

It was another wild week in the VU Pick 'Em League. Coworker Jim's Cuyahoga Riverdawgs retained the number one spot but not all went well for him...more on that in a bit. The weeks winner went to FITZ who only missed two games.

The Top 15:

1 cuyahoga riverdawgs
2 Bubbling Farts
3 C.J.'s pix
4 The Wizzinator
5 Straight Cash Homies
6 Ron Burgundy
7 Pogo
8 hawgdawg
9 FITZ
10 Ragnar
10 paviking
10 Smooth Jimmy Apollo
13 Big Dogs
14 Mr. Cheer Or Die
15 Wisconsin Vikes?

Poor Coworker Jim of Ohio. First his beloved basketball, the Cleveland Cavaliers, lost to the Timberwolves. Which was followed by the Vikings beating the Browns. And perhaps worst of all, yours truly took the whip to Jim in the Beer Brotherhood Fantasy League and took over as the number one ranked team. It was a complete sweep for Minnesota over Ohio last weekend!

Yet another "must win" game for the Vikes. If Minnesota can play the same smart football that we have seen in the prior 4 games, we should come away with a win. We have to watch turnovers, false starts and holding penalties, and get the running game going early. I do have some concerns with the sudden jump in our opponent's return yardage as well as Edinger's foot, but hopefully these were just minor things. I hope that the brooms will emerge for the 2nd time this season, aka..."Duo-Broomo"! Now, if only(ugh!) GreenBay could grow a pair and beat the Bears just once, well that Sir, would be a beautiful thing!! GO VIKINGS!!! 6-5 :o)

Hey Brian! LOL your apocalyptic stuff was too funny! BS's baby as Jesus and Jerry's loo! But just last night, I heard on the news that Los Alamos National Labs has 600LBS of Plutonium unaccounted for. Just to give some retrospective magnitude to this, the first A-bomb dropped on Japan contained just 13LBS of this matter. Not the kind of Armageddon arithmatic I care for!! May we all hope and pray that this is just an inventory oversight.

Mark: Great idea for the dual sweeping brooms to be up Monday. You can count on it.

Missing plutonium? Must be a Packer fan in charge of inventory....

Interesting post. I am an avid online gambler and fantasy sports player and place most of my bets online. I find the internet to be a great tool and even use resources like StatShark to help me make my picks. What a great sports forecastings tool.

Jeez, I guess I should have made a bigger deal out of my 88-58 Fantasy League win over Nostradamus/Jeane Dixon/Mr. COD when it happened in Week 5... I had no idea that his 3-point win over my fantasy team last week would be so meaningful!
Maybe Mr. COD would like to ante up for tickets for he and I to attend the Cavs-TWolves rematch on 2/8 in Minneapolis with all the fantasy winnings he is apparently expecting to book! I expect a different outcome in that game!

Dearest Coworker Jim, being the sports nut you are you know it is not about how you BEGIN the season but how you END it. Should our paths cross in the playoffs, I shall look forward to beating your ass again and regaining the championship trophy...hereby named the Maas Trophy.
