Sorry about this but I have a very full day ahead of me. To keep you entertained.....
Math Game
This is strange...can you figure it out? Are you the 2% or 98% of the population? Just follow these instructions and answer the questions one at a time as quick as you can! Don't advance until you've answered the question. NO PEEKING.
Let's begin:
Think of a number from 1 to 10
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Multiply that number by 9.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
If the number is a 2-digit number, add the digits together.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Now subtract 5
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Determine which letter in the alphabet corresponds to the number you ended up with. (example: 1=a, 2=b, 3=c,etc.)
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Think of a country that starts with that letter.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Remember the last letter of the name of that country.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Think of the name of an animal that starts with that letter.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Remember the last letter in the name of that animal.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Think of the name of a fruit that starts with that letter.

Are you thinking of a Kangaroo in Denmark eating an Orange?
If not, you're among the 2% of the population whose minds are different enough to think of something else. 98% of people will answer with kangaroos in Denmark when given this exercise. Try it out on someone else and see if they can figure it out.
VU Videocast Eleven
If you haven't heard, Daunte is flying up to meet with new coach Brad Childress. I talk about this and a few other things in VU Videocast Eleven.
The Hiking Viking is in the 2% category with a Koala Bear in Denmark eating a Raspberry. Fun math game.

A number evenly divisible by 9 has digits which add to 9. Forcing readers to pick an initial number between 1 and 10 results in a two digit number whose digits will add to 9; i.e. 9, 18, 27, 36, ...90.
Subtracting 5 from the sum of digits which will necessarily sum to 9, necessarily leaves 4, thus forcing the letter 'd' as the outcome. There are a few countries whose name begins with the letter 'd', and this is where variations may arise. Dubai, Denmark, etc. yield different potentials for animals, which leave potential differences for fruit.
OK, try this; arrange the digits 1-9 in a 3 x 3 arrangement similar to a tic-tac-toe board, where the sum of three numbers in each of all 3 rows, all 3 columns, and both diagonals, equal 15. If you manage to find an arrangement that satisfies this constraint, repeat the exercise to find seven more such distinct arrangements with sums of 15 in all rows, columns and diagonals. Do this under a 5 minute time constraint for the first solution, and 3 minutes for each subsequent solution.

I ended up with strawberries in Djibouti and am apparently a genious.:)
Screw this! Has anyone seen the coaching staff we're assembling? Holy Shit! These guys oughtta be working on the next Manhattan Project! I hope there is room for all the egos.
Seriously, I had my doubts about Childress, but look at the staff he is building! Maybe someone should clue Souhan in on the caliber of the new coaching staff.
Posted by: TC at January 11, 2006 09:53 PMAn Ibis eating strawberries in Djibouti. . .
Thats what I came up with. . .only because I live in Fla and these darned Ibis are everywhere attacking my children and I as we stroll about our development. They remind me of Souhan's constant assault on anything purple and gold.
Posted by: TC at January 11, 2006 10:09 PMWow. Everyone that has responded belongs to the weird 2% of the population. I won't look up a different country that starts with "D", I'll just admit that I was thinking of a kangaroo in Denmark eating an orange. So there.
Childress' decisions are exciting me, however, I'm still on the fence about his decision to fire Cotrell. Won't this be the 4th defensive scheme the Vikes have seen in 5 years? Our defense was really coming together, too. Hopefully that unity won't be lost under a new D coordinator.
Posted by: Peter at January 12, 2006 11:04 AMAlso an ibis eating strawberries in Djibouti. Weird.
Posted by: Woo at January 12, 2006 01:42 PMThat's a great game COD but my math calculations came out wrong because I ended up with a bear, puckering on a lemon in Chicago, or could this be an oracle of delphi moment?? The staff that Childress is assembling is very impressive, this is going to be another exciting season!!
Posted by: Mark at January 12, 2006 02:02 PMI had Djbouti, but couldn't think of an animal starting with "i". I guess iguana would've worked. Didn't occur to me.
