Travesty

It is now official: The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Caton, Ohio is a complete and utter joke. It has become crystal clear that unless you are a wearing at least one Super Bowl ring on a finger, it doesn't mean diddly-squat how many Pro Bowls you went to; how many All Pro first teams you made; how you rank in career statistics; or if you "just catch touchdowns. Almost the entire national media had Cris Carter and Randall McDaniel as shoo-in's in this years balloting. Just how much of a travesty was the voting this year?

Consider, this man is in the Hall of Fame.

Yep, Michael, "I Like Coke" Irvin is in Canton. Cris Carter is not. Lets compare stats:

Coke Man
Pro Bowls - 5
All Pro - 3
Career Receptions - 750 (24th all-time)
Career Receiving yards - 11904 (16 all-time)
Career Receiving TDs - 65 (39th all-time)

CC
Pro Bowls - 8
All Pro - 4
Career Receptions - 1102 (2nd all-time)
Career Receiving yards - 13899 (6th all-time)
Career Receiving TDs - 130 (2nd all-time)

Makes sense to me that the Coke Man is crushed by CC in those five categories but still has a HOF jacket and Carter does not. Riiiiiigggghhhht.

On to Randall McDaniel. Dan "I Don't Know When to Shut the Hell Up" Dierdorf is in Canton. McDaniel is not. Let's compare, shall we?

The Mouth
Pro Bowls - 6
All Pro 6

McDaniel
Pro Bowls - NFL record 12 consecutive Pro Bowls
All Pro - 11

McDaniel does a ton of work for schools and other community service. He has never stopped giving back to the community that roared for him each and every Sunday.

Diedorf blathers on, oblivious to the fact the mute button should have been named for him.

So if you were to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the near future, you will see the likes of Irvin and Dierdorf enshrined there. But don't look for Carter or McDaniel. No wonder the hall is located in one of the armpits of Ohio (sorry Ohio....I'm pissed!). It has to be. If it were located in a real city it would have been burned to the ground by now.

Someone cue the soft music...I'm going to be sick for a few days.

Unbelievable ..... makes no sense to me at all.

But it does show the magic effect of the Super Bowl .. perhaps the inductions should not happen so close to the Super Bowl.
