Bush: Economy needs free trade to grow stronger

President Bush suggested to Congress Monday that they break down trade barriers and encourage more free trade. He said that free-trade policies are vital to the economy. This would help U.S. companies conduct international business more easily.

The NY Times added that it is a bipartisan decision. Democrats are also striving for a move to more open international trade, supporting Bush's decision.

The article in the NY Times does a high-quality job of reporting the facts, using much more space to go much more in-depth. It is not a crucial issue until some resolutions are passed, however, so the Star Tribune did a fine job reporting this early progress.
