New Biosciences Librarian: Peter Kirlew

Peter Kirlew joined us on November 9th as the new Biosciences Librarian, a joint appointment between Magrath Library and the Bio-Medical Library. He comes to us from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was a Reference Librarian for the Sciences and Engineering, and he has also previously held adjunct faculty appointments at colleges in New England and worked in laboratory technology at Cornell University. Peter holds a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Cincinnati, an M.S. in agronomy/soil science from Cornell University, and an M.L.I.S. from the University of Rhode Island.

Peter is the liaison librarian for the departments of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics, Genetics, Cell Biology and Development, and Microbiology, and he also has subject-specialist responsibilities for bioinformatics.
