John Moriarty, Bell Museum Associate, will talk about the life and times of Walter Breckenridge, legendary Minnesota naturalist and noted ecologist, ornithologist and artist, who died at age 100 in 2003. Breckenridge's autobiography, My Life in Natural History, edited by his daughter Barbara Breckenridge Franklin and John Moriarty, was recently published by the University of Minnesota Bell Museum of Natural History. The book traces Breckenridge's life, from boyhood in Iowa through travels to the Arctic and Galapagos Islands, and includes color plates of his paintings. Books will be available for purchase and signing by John Moriarty. Proceeds benefit the Breckenridge endowment fund that supports the museum.
