It takes practice, I guess
You know how groups of military personnel in training always seem to have a leader chanting to which the masses respond? Apparently being that leader takes practice. I kid you not: I just saw two [ROTC] guys in the [Armory] gym--one practicing his chanting ("left, right, left, right, left, left...darn...I always forget that last right...." ;-) ) and the other telling him what to chant.

I've got a scary story of green guys in training. I was talking a walk around Washington Park and there were all these army guys running around with rifles, ducking behind trees and pointing guns at people, forming circles backs to the inside, all guns pointing out. Apparently ROTC does "training in the park." Somehow I don't think little kids need to see big kids running around pointing guns at people. It sends the wrong message. Never, never, never point a gun at anyone. Even if you think the gun is empty.

I just realized you are in the Armory. Fun. I see them early in the morning chanting and jump-jacking.
