A 4-year-old boy died Monday after being struck by a car near a south Minneapolis park, the Star Tribune reported.
The boy was hit at the intersection of 11th Avenue South and East 26th Street near Stewart Park on Sunday evening, the Pioneer Press reported. A nurse performed CPR on the boy before he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.
The boy was crossing the street while his mother was playing soccer in the park, according to the Star Tribune.
The 58-year-old woman driving the car was cooperative with the police and appeared distraught following the accident, Police Sgt. Stephen McCarty told the Star Tribune. The driver was unable to avoid the boy and was not under the influence of any drugs or alcohol, according to the Pioneer Press.
