Fannie Mae forgives loan for 90-year-old-woman
Fannie Mae is forgiving a 90-year-old woman’s loan debt after she shot herself in front of officers that were trying to evict her.
The woman, Addie Polk, 90, of Akron, Ohio, is in critical condition at the Akron General Medical Center after shooting herself twice in the chest on Wednesday.
Polk has lived in the 101-year-old house since 1970. MSNBC reports she has been the sole owner of the home since 1995 when her husband died and took loan in 1997 and has refinanced since. CNN.com reports that Polk took a loan out from Countrywide Home Loan in 2004.
When Countrywide Home Loans foreclosed in 2007, Polk’s home was sold to Fannie Mae. CNN.com reports that after 2004, Polk missed payments.
CNN.com also reports that deputies tried over 30 times to give Polk her eviction notice, leaving the note on the door when she wouldn’t answer.
