Kwanzaa Freedom School in North Minneapolis is looking to recruit students from the U of M to work with a literacy program for students K-8 in North Minneapolis!
Freedom School Servant Leader Interns work as paid summer camp counselors, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am until approximately 4:00 pm, with children in grades K-8. Interns help serve breakfast and lunch, lead a literacy rich curriculum during the morning and lead/chaperone field trips and activities in the afternoon. Attendance at several parent meetings during the summer, typically on weeknights, is expected. Interns also a weeklong training in Knoxville, TN before the beginning of Freedom School. Training and programming run from May 19th- August 5th.
