I went today because there was no program on Monday and I needed to finish up my hours. I was still with the same age group but with a different section of kids. This was good because I continued to give the end of the year surveys. I called each student out to complete the survey. This took all of the homework and curriculum time and after that I supervised the gym time, which was highlighted by a tumbling competition. Some of the students could do multiple backflips in a row. A good example to define my time at Cityview, the students never cease to amaze me and teach me, sometimes more than I teach them.

The pictures were fantastic and I though they did a great job to represent what the group was discussing. Although the background was very in depth I think that time should have been spent on just the background that applied to the women. I liked that the project was specifically in the area of education and that it was very well thought out but maybe mention other areas that have or could help women. All in all a very good project.

I feel that the human race is evolving continuously. This evolution is not taking place physically or genetically as it has in the past. We are evolving mentally and through technology. This allows human kind to continue to grow exponentially as it has. This has created some surprising and interesting developments in the field of technology. The readings and the lectures have mention some such as: visual reality, walls that move and change, new buildings, and the miniaturization of technology. There are also some developments that I have found to be quite interesting.

One of the students thought a volunteer was talking about her behind her back and let him know that she was not happy with him, multiple times. We were informed that this happened alot with this child and not to be alarmed. There was scheduled to be a special guest from a local energy company but he did not show so we had extra time in the gym and to work on homework even though the children informed us that none of them had homework because of schoolwide testing.

Keywords 16
Process:
I agree with Janine Benyus in the fact that it is not so much the duplication of nature in form or appearance but in the processes of nature.
Perfecting:
The world around us has an unimaginable wealth of information at our fingertips and in the very environment that surrounds us. This information has been perfected by the organisms in the world around us and is available for interpretation and replication.
Questions 16
Is there any way you can use Bio-mimicry in your term project?
Nature has done so well living and developing within its limits. Is these reason humans have failed to live as seamless with nature as other organisms because we constantly have to break or expand the limits?
Keywords 17
Patterns, Math
Nature is deeply inlaid with patterns it is in our leaves, shells, sand dunes, and even cell structures. All of these patterns can be observed and explain mathematically. And through math we can understand why and how these patterns are formed. One example that is given is the patterns of flower petals. The pattern difficult to find but it turns out that the common numbers of petals for flowers have a certain pattern that relates all of them.
Questions
How can we relate these patterns to our term projects and architecture in general?
Even though chaos is unpredictable and can not be understood, can we still use it in design?
Keywords 18
Purity:
Mathematics is a pure language, all of its expressions are precise, also it has unlimited possibilities. It is made pure by the fact that it can be used to duplicate exactly expressions or situations perfectly many times over.
Skepticism: Another reason behind the purity of mathematics is the skepticism it promotes. This skepticism comes from always questioning facts, In mathematics a fact can be proved completely untrue by the occurrence of one falsity. This means that the only truths are the ones that are constantly tested but hold up.
Questions
Is the connection that runs throughout all of these readings (bio-mimicry-pattern-mathematics) do enough to relate this reading to design?
Mathematical creativity does not seem to be a correct term. Can there be creativity in a concrete subject like mathematics? How does it relate to creativity in more obvious subjects like art and design?

One that I did find to be quite helpful was core77. I led me to the following website for the California College of Art's Summer Institute in Sustainable Design. It was displayed in a great layout that included plenty of white space with font and colors that did well to complement each other. The great thing about this layout was the added effect of the ribbons in the corner constantly moving and changing.
