IIn all honesty, I really won't remember most of what we covered this semester because it's not in my major, and I won't remember specific sections or specific concepts. I will remember little snip-its, though. This class hasn't been at the top of my "to do list" this semester, but what I have retained will probably impact some part of my life five years from now. I'll probably remember how short term information gets stored in the brain and becomes long term information. I'll probably remember OCEAN for the rest of my life too. I'll probably be sitting down at a table to some dinner in the future and study peoples personalities. Not in a creepy sort of way, but just so I can get to know them. Another thing I'll probably remember five years from now is how a baby can learn different languages, and they are able to detect subtle differences in any language. I'll probably look at my future infant child and speak random German to it and study its reaction. I'll probably look at that child and wonder how much information it has retained too. Just little bits of information like that will stay with me five years from now or even longer.

I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this post, simply because it sums up so many of my own thoughts and feelings. In the big scope of things, you aren't going to remember the Big Five of Personality or any other technical gobbledegook, but you probably will remember some of the ideas taught (namely always keeping an open mind and thinking critically).
I definitely know where you're coming from. I'm not a psych major either, but I feel like I'll be applying random psychology concepts to my life even far in the future, just out of curiosity.
I can relate to what you are saying, as I'm also not a psych major. There is just so much information to take in for one course, it seems nearly impossible to keep all the information straight. It's really a shame because we did learn so many interesting concepts. I do agree that there are bits of things that will stick with us though, such as using the Scientific Thinking Principles to make evaluations, or perhaps the stages of development.
I think that as far as the concepts go, I probably will not remember them as well. However, I do think that I will still use much of what I have learned in this class throughout my academic career and throughout my career as well. Psychology is a part of our daily lives, we just don't always realize it.
I agree with what you are saying. With so much going on in our lives and other classes, it's hard to remember sections, topics, and the information we've learned this semester. I agreed that OCEAN and personality is the easiest to remember and sometimes just people watching OCEAN will come back and I'll be able to identify a person's personality trait.
I'm glad I finally saw someone speak their mind on these blog posts. This was interesting to me because I can definitely relate with you on this. Psychology is not in my major and I had to take it so I did. There will be some stuff that I will remember when I least expect it and like you said other times I "probably" will not even remember one small section I read from one of the 16 chapters each 40 pages each. Good post though.
I definitely know what you mean. I have a pretty good memory, but some of this stuff will inevitably go out the window come Wednesday at 6:30, but I do think I will remember some interesting little tidbits. Also, I'm going to guess when you won't "study" your kid if you speak random German because you will be overjoyed and forget about your plans.
Agreed!! This is not my major... However, when I was originally thinking about possible majors I was all for Psychology! Now... Not so much. This class was filled with so much information and it would be wrong to say that I'll remember everything, because I most certainly will not! Like you said, I'll remember the "snip-its" and the easy stuff, but that's about it. Some things more than others, but this class wasn't on the top of my to-do list either.
I agree I am not a psych major at all and will for sure not remember the majority of the stuff that we covered. However I agree that I will remember bits and pieces about things that we covered in class, I will hear something and be able to relate it in an extremely general way to a concept that we had been over in class.
