Using Psychology Moving Forward

Going into this class, I figured that I would just try and get through it with as little effort as possible. However, over the weeks I found myself stimulated and interested in the course material. I will take away many things from this course, but the biggest thing that I think I will remember in the next five years is the personality unit. In particular, I think that the Projective Tests will be the thing that I remember the most. These tests include the Rorschach Inkblot Test and the Thematic Apperception Test. I find this very interesting because you can find out a lot about people with something so basic.

I enjoy trying to "read" people to try to gain insight on others' perspectives so I can attempt to see things from all angles. I think that this could be useful to figure out how people are feeling based on their reactions and descriptions of basic, ambiguous objects or situations. Figuring out these slight cues in their words and actions may be helpful in determining how I decide to go about interacting with them for the remainder of the time being spent with them. This is just one of the many things that I will remember, but this will probably be the most helpful thing I will utilize in social situations.

The following video shows some examples of Rorschach Inkblot Test:

Personality is what I said I would remember most. I think that it is very interesting and fun to learn about. The Rorschach Inkblot Test was fun to learn about and hear and learn what different people see in the inkblots. I think that it is interesting that by these simple pictures, personality could be identified.

I totally agree with you. I wouldn't say that this class is my favorite or anything but it did turn out to be much more intriguing than I had initially thought it would. It relates so much to life every day that I found myself relating things in my day to psychology way more than I should have been.

I agree that the inkblot test was very interesting. It was a very clever personality test to create because people can't manipulate the answers to what they think the right answers are, instead of answering honestly, but there are no right answers to the inkblot test. It's interesting that people can detect someone else's personality type based on such a simple thing.

This is also one of the few things that I will take will take away with me from this Psychology course. It is one of the easiest subjects to remember and I also remember it from the movie The Watchmen. One of the main characters in that movie his name is Rorschach because he wears a mask that creates the illusion of the Rorschach Inkblot Test. That is how I remembered it while I learned about it during Psych this year.

I agree with you 100%! I felt the same way when i started this course, I just wanted to get over with as easily and painlessly as possible. But then I realized that I was going to have to read the book in order to do well quickly after the first exam.. but hey, it wasn't so bad! It has actually been super interesting. I am glad I took this course!

I also found the inkblot test to be very interesting, since it is seen in movies all the time. Its once I started seeing little connections from psychology to real life, that I started taking an interest in the class.
