I took an online emotional intelligence test and it asked questions like this, along with questions about what I would do in certain situations.

Emotional intelligence, in the book, is defined as the "ability to understand our own emotions and those of others, and to apply this information to our daily lives". I didn't really think about the actual definition as I was first reading, but after reading more about emotional intelligence online, I now have a better understanding of what it is. This link has really useful articles to the ins and outs of emotional intelligence.

The one article I found most helpful was, "What Emotional Intelligence Is and Is Not". This article explains that emotional intelligence is not personality traits. It says people with high emotional intelligence understand the meanings that emotions convey and can use emotional episodes in their lives to promote specific types of thinking. I found these things in the article especially interesting.

The other article I found interesting was "10 Ways to Enhance Your Emotional Intelligence". The article outlines things you can do to improve emotional intelligence such as write thoughts and feelings down and tune into your unconscious feelings. Recently, employers have implemented training to boost their employee's emotional intelligence. Does this formal training method actually work? I guess we will have to wait for more research to be done in order to find out.

This is a very interesting point. I think that emotional intelligence is something that can be improved, however I think that some have more emotional intelligence than others naturally. Training for employees to boost emotuonal intelligence has the potential to be effective in my opinion. However, people must be willing to improve it and be able to pay more attention to their feelings and those of the people around them.

Emotional intelligence is an interesting concept. Sounds like a fancy way of saying "understanding yourself", which I think a lot of people don't like to do. So it is cool to see companies try an improve this within their employee base.

I think that training employees to boost their emotional intelligence would be extremely beneficial. I would agree that naturally some people have more than others, however there is always room for growth with a willingness to of course. I think this could be a very effective tool for an individual to develop to use in their everyday lives.

I agree that increasing emotional intelligence would be beneficial in the work place. I think emotional intelligence would also be useful within families to be able to understand each other's feelings. It would build stronger relationships between family members so you could always be aware of one another's emotions.

Your blogs makes me think about what emotional intelligence is and just about emotions I feel and see in others every day. I think that writing down feelings and the many other things people are told to increase their emotional intelligence works to a degree. I think it would be beneficial in the work force, but I believe people have a certain control on emotions.

Emotional intelligence is a really interesting concept for many reasons. I think emotionally intelligent people have an advantage over others because they are able to control and understand their emotions better. I have also heard that some people believe emotional intelligence to be of more importance than IQ in the work place because they are able to work with others better.

I think emotional intelligence is very important in the workplace because it will help you get along with others better than having a high IQ will. Emotional intelligence helps build stronger relationships in my opinion because you will be better able to interact with the emotion that is present in the other person.

Happiness is an integral part of emotional intelligence. As long as you are happy you have a better mindset of your personal goals in life.
