Templates help you control the design and layout of your blog. If you want to customize the look of your blog, a good place to start is to try out one of the default templates that come with the MT installation. The UThink Movable Type system has a beta tool called the Template changer which provides you with a nice set of custom templates. This can be used as a good starting platform to build your own templates to achieve the look and feel that you want.
